Heritage Fun Run: Run to Help Philippine Tourism

This is one run you should not miss! Finally, a fun run for FREE! Woot! Woot!

Not your ordinary Sunday race as this doesn't give you a singlet or a medal or a shirt after the run. Not loot bags either. No timing chip too. Just a fun fun fun run (you can bike too) along some of the historical sites in Manila.

Note for all: Please Read this from Carlos Celdran. He was the one who started this. Then, while we (#helpDOT tweeps) are having a brainstorming meeting last Friday at Department of Tourism with U.Sec Enteng Romano, I suggested that we can also have runners during that bike tour. So this fun run was born.

Don't expect too much. This is just an advocacy run to help Department of Tourism (#helpDOT)- that's all. I encourage runners who are interested to learn something from our own history while running (healthy na, historical pa).

What will I gain here? Nothing. Just a genuine support to our DOT. Meet runners and tour Manila for free. I believe SMART Philippines will cover this event too!

Any help I can do? Join us! Promote! Promote! Blog about this! Tweet! Facebook this! Make a shout out! O btw, we need photographers so we can make this thing viral.

Date: September 5, 2010 (Sunday), 6:00am (be there at 5:45am)
Meeting Place: Manila Film Center (its near PICC, CCP and Sofitel)
Distance: 6 kilometers more or less (for those who are having an LSD we can retrace the route 2-3 times)
Route: Starting at the Manila Film Center then around Malate, Ermita, Intramuros, & Binondo and back again.
Hydration: Please bring your own.

So many things, So little time...

In just a span of one week a lot of things happened... A lot of things changed.

I left home last friday night with my son, to be with my parents. Had a not so good argument with dearest husband, so I decided to leave him for the mean time and spend my weekend at my parents' place. My decision was great, coz my dad brought with him a cake and lots of food for us to feast on. :) yay! food trip again! :) never mind my husband being alone at home. He's got his parents to comfort him if he gets scared. wehehe! (he is afraid of being alone ;p)

Saturday, I left the house to attend an FGD in mandaluyong then headed to BHS for Immuvit's run against time. I learned a lot of good things there, which I wish to apply to myself soon hehe. :)

Sunday, DLSU vs ADMU. ohwell talo and tambak haha! My brother was ofcourse quietly cheering for his school to win, but dlsu is just too weak this time. I hope they scout good players next year. After the game, we had Pizza :) so nice of my dad to buy food for us. lav yah dad!

Monday, terrible terrible. I logged in to my fb mobile and saw anc news reporting abt a hostage crisis in Manila.... :( i dowanna blog about it. it just breaks my heart. well, we're also back in cavite.

Tuesday, Venus Raj Won 4th runner up Ms. U!yay! pambawi

Wed. bought new ref for nin. yippeee!

Thurs. Grocery day. haha!

Trying out a new theme...

If you may notice, I've changed my blog theme again... well i'm just trying something to refresh my senses

and while writing this one, I received an email from jobstreet... I saw an interesting job that actually fits my specialization. I kinda have a thought of getting a job, having a new life, a new career again... but if I work... who will take care of my son? Why is it always so hard to go back to working? Ofcourse I want a job. I need a job. I want one to help my husband support our family... It's just that, nobody will look after my kid once I decide to go back to working... oh well. whatta life... Some needs job but doesn't have the qualifications to get one... While me, I have those qualifications fit for the job, but I can't work because of this and that... Opportunities are going gone... I don't know when will I be able to work again... I am not getting any younger, and the fact that a lot of fresh grads are highly obsessed of finding a job, there are also the undergrads who want to try their luck in the business world... too much competition getting in the way... too much luck going out of my way... haaaay. :((

Celebrating a friend's bday + family nightbonding

Today is such a special day, coz it's my friend mian's birthday! :)
Was so happy to celebrate it with her family.
Though it was just an impromptu invite, me, my son and my husband sure did enjoy the day... or should I say night? hehe.

Thanks Mi, for the wonderful meal from BK ;) and I hope Rob did enjoy her playtime at dave's. Pls don't forget to bring socks the next time we go there. hehe.

Happy Birthday Mian! :)

My first 10K ♥

I was mentally prepared for my first 10k, but I think wasn't physically trained particularly for the uphill route. The first 2k was no joke, I was running alone and can't pace up with the other runners, again and again, I felt that pain on the left part of my abdomen.... I was losing it.... then I met this lady in a violet top. She's so friendly and nice, we had a small chat while running, she was telling me that she's so out of it and I replied, me neither. We were laughing while running. At times I kinda feel breathless and she offered me some beans. I tend to pace a little slower as I was nearing the 4k mark. But still, I tried to run and not walk. The marshalls were a big help on giving me a boost. I got motivated upon reaching 5k. Everything felt good as I took my marker. On the 6k, I was again paced by another runner, he's a pinoy but speaks good english. He cheered me up and told me I can do it. I ran ahead of him as he was pacing really slowly. As I went ahead I was wondering if I don't look like a pinay, cause all other runners who tried to pace up with me are talking to me in english. Maybe they thought I'm a korean coz there were alot of korean runners that day. So there, I run alone again, nobody to pace with. The runners ahead of me were too fast. I tried my best to cope up with them, to run even on the hills. I motivated myself. I keep on reminding myself that I can do it and I will not walk. I will finish this race and will never give up. In the end, I was able to run with those runners ahead of me, I finished my first 10k strong. Was so happy for myself. :)
Thank you Lord for giving me the strength to finish this race. ♥

busy me :)

Was so busy the past few weeks that i have no time to check my emails and blog account. Fortunately i can fb using my old nokia phone so i was able to check some updates. :) Well, what happened during my long busy week was this:

First, my bestfriend asked me if I can fill in for a friend in their entourage. Apparently, our h.s. friend backed out for some reasons, she can't make it on the wedding (but she did, she was there) So, there i was, to save the day. We did the necessary adjustments, fitted a gown, picked a style then after a week got my own gown for my bestfriend's wedding. The wedding happened last July 24 at 10:00 in the morning. Wedding in the morning is no joke for me. I had to fix my own hair, do my own makeup and eat very early just to make it on time. The wedding went out fine. It was a nice one. I saw my bf cry because of so much joy bursting out from her heart. :) I am just happy for her :)

After the wedding, we went to another event. It's my nephew's birthday. Good thing that both events happened to be in cavite. or else i will not be able to go to the bday. ofcourse, wedding is much more important :)

July 25. I had 3 events during that day.

First, my 5k run at the Fort. It was a nice run, cool and cloudy skies were very accomodating for my early morning run. I finished in 44 minutes. :) I wish to improve more on my next run. :)

After my run, I went to another event which is in Shaw Blvd. I was chosen to be a godparent to my friend's first born son. :) was so glad to be there too.

Then last, my sister's bday :) celebrated her bday at my parents house :) we had 2 cakes, ice creams and kare kare for dinner YUMMMM :)

haaaay. all of these happened in just 2 days. Now I feel so grumpy and all. haha

And the results for 5k are in! :) yey!

I first searched my name from the 50 - 55 min mark, but my name wasn't there... I thought maybe I finished quite a bit slower than i thought.
Then Bridson said he'd help me look for my name... he's also excited to see the results... hmmmm suppotive ehhh? haha! so there he started at the 45 min mark I think, he searched and searched... and tadahhh! my name appeared! yehey!

race bib number: 547711
name: ABIGAEL CASTRONUEVO
age: 26
gender: F
time: 49:15
pace: 9:51
place: 4355/9840

I'm so happy that my official time is 49:15 :) I wish that on my next run I would be able to beat my personal record.

Thank you very much MILO! I know there were too many of us who ran in the 5k and 3k category, but still you were able to post the results 4 days after the race.

If you want to see the rest of the results pls check it here:

http://networkedblogs.com/5uzoM

Growing up with MILO :)

And so I registered for my 2nd running event this time with MILO.
It is the 34th Milo Marathon and the advocacy of this year's race is to give a child a pair of running shoes :) isn't that sweet?

Again, I registered myself in the 5k run, prepared myself that it's going to be a jampacked marathon unlike any other running event in the country. And as expected, by 5am traffic was really bad when i reached MIA road. Twas like a bumper to bumber ride from the tip of roxas blvd going to KM. 0 where the race will begin.

I got there by almost 6am. there were almost 21,000 runners for the 5k alone! It was a sea of green. I cannot move unless the person infront of me moved a bit.

this is how it looked like... we were too many. but still the fun in the air was too much that we didn't even bother if we bump into each other while going towards that starting line.

I finished the 5k within 55 minutes. a bit slower than my first run, but still happy. :) Being part of the event is really something for me. It is an achievement to finish the race within the cutoff time. I am proud of myself and I am mostly proud of the people who took the 10k, 21k and th 42k. Kudos to you all. :)

Have I got a long way to run....

After so many months of being idle...I am now back and ready to blog anything and everything!

And now, I have a new hobby! yes! yey yey yey! aside from doing nothing all day long and taking care of my only son 24/7... I am now involved in running! YES! really, running! haha! I just wanted to shed off some fats and also enjoy everything while having this kind of activity. I must say that am a newbie when it comes to running, because the only thing that I do best is to dance... and that's it. For me dancing is my sport. ;) I play volleyball, basketball, badminton and I also swim but I haven't achieved anything with those. and NOW that running is the new IN thing around town, I've decided to why not give it a shot... SOOOO... I registered in a few running events here in the city.

My first running event is with the ACE eco-friendly run. a 5k is a good way to start my running. I finished in 49 minutes. :) pretty cool for a beginner like me. ;)
That's me in the middle, my friend chelle and the Kenyan runner who finished first on the 10k male.

I got a lootbag from ACE hardware, a magazine, sports bottle and lot more tiny things haha! well I had a great time running, except for the end part of it. When we reached the finish line, the place was so crowded, there was only one person to get our tag at the finish line. and he has no spindle hole. ohwell... how would we get our accurate race result with in that kind of way... well anyway enough of that ending part, what matters here is I enjoyed my run and I finished it in 49 minutes :)

Have I got a long way to run....

After so many months of being idle... I am now back to rock ;)

One Tagaytay Place... the BEST place to be ;)

“What do you think sets ONE TAGAYTAY apart from the rest of the hotels in Tagaytay in terms of spending romantic time together with your partner?”

Soon after reading this, the memory of our 2009 Valentine stay at the OTP came into my memory again. Fresh just like it did happen a while ago... I remember that the hotel was still not in full swing during that time, the pool is still not ready for use and so as the gym. But that's not the main reason why we went there. We were there because we wanted to unwind from the busy hussles of the Metro. We stayed there at OTP to relax and spend a little romantic time together with our little dear son. And I sure did enjoy our stay. Me and my husband loved the whole place, my son who's only a year old then also had fun, the manager was very nice to us, He played along with my son who was so giddy running around the lobby area the night during our stay. Our experience was quite simple but everything was so enjoyably nice and worth to remember.

The Hotel is such a romantic place indeed. The people around were friendly and they gave us the best treatment during our stay. I love the lobby area and the romantic valentine treat that they did, The lavish dinner and the hearty buffet breakfast were all so good... For me, One Tagaytay Hotel is not only the best place to stay in Tagaytay. It is also one of the Best in our Country. Even though the Hotel is quite small if we may be comparing it to other 5 star hotels in Manila, the OTP is not only at par in some ways but they also exceed by giving their customers quality customer service and friendly hospitality. In my own experience being a Hotel hopper myself, OTP is one of the best. I've recommended this hotel to all my friends and they all had their own share of good stories. I would surely love to experience another unforgettable stay at the OTP.

Making cakes without even baking ;)

I love cakes and I love to eat! I love to explore new things inside the kitchen and I want to know a lot more... Just this week I thought of making a cake for me and my husband, and since my son is staying with my parents for a week, I can have the whole time to spend in the kitchen :) I then went out to buy ingredients for my home made cheesecake ;) I added blueberry as toppings to make it more yummier haha!

here's my no bake-cheesecake! I made it all by myself :0 so proud of it haha! It tastes like the blueberry cheesecake from redribbon. :)

Addicted to Panna Cotta

Last Sunday, My family attended Joehna's 2nd Bday Party. It was a fantabulous one having such a nice party Harajuku Style :) My son danced all the time enjoying the lighted dance floor specially installed for the party. While everyone else is enjoying the mood of the party, me and my husband devoured to this delicious dessert called Panna Cotta in Caramel Sauce.

I cannot count how many glasses I consumed during the event but I still wanted more. haha! SO i decided to make one for myself.

Soon as I got home I looked for the best possible and easiest way to make a good panna cotta. Then I got this one: Enjoy!

Panna Cotta

Eight servings

I love this dessert and the great thing about Panna Cotta is that it demands to be made in advance. You can make them up to two days ahead and keep them well-covered and chilled.

4 cups (1l) heavy cream (or half-and-half)
1/2 cup (100g) sugar
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract, or 1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise
2 packets powdered gelatin (about 4 1/2 teaspoons)
6 tablespoons (90ml) cold water

1. Heat the heavy cream and sugar in a saucepan or microwave. Once the sugar is dissolved, remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.

2. Lightly oil eight custard cups with a neutral-tasting oil.

3. Sprinkle the gelatin over the cold water in a medium-sized bowl and let stand 5 to 10 minutes.

4. Pour the very warm Panna Cotta mixture over the gelatin and stir until the gelatin is completely dissolved.

5. Divide the Panna Cotta mixture into the prepared cups, then chill them until firm, which will take at least two hours but I let them stand at least four hours. (

If you're pressed for time, pour the Panna Cotta mixture into wine goblets so you can serve them in the glasses, without unmolding.

6. Run a sharp knife around the edge of each Panna Cotta and unmold each onto a serving plate, and garnish as desired.

To make Panna Cotta with sheet gelatin: Soften 25g (approximately six sheets) in a liter of cold water for 5 to 10 minutes. Wring the sheets out and stir them into the warm Panna Cotta mixture in step # 4, until dissolved.

Hawaii warns of possible tsunami

After the 8.8 magnitude earthquake in Chile, every nation in the Pacific Rim is now on a threatened alert of a possible deadly tsunami. Hawaii now alerts everyone in it's country to be prepared. They now have the highest alert level, people living near the coastal area were being evacuated. Hilo International Airport which is located along the coast was also closed. Same warning goes with Countries like Guam and Samoa. In our country, the Philvolcs issued a low-level alert ordering people to wait further notice of a possible tsunami.
A tsunami during the 1960's happened after a quake with a magnitude of 9.5 also struck Chile, affected Japan, Hawaii and The Philippines.

A moment of silence for CHILE

Today, Feb. 28, 2010, Talca, Chile experienced a very devastating earthquake. A magnitude of 8.8 quake struck the country early Saturday which resulted to toppling homes, collapsed buildings and bridges and also threatened a tsunami to every nation around the Pacific Ocean, which includes our country aswell.

It was said that this earthquake in Chile is 10x more powerful than what Haiti have just experienced.

Let us all pray for the people in Chile. Let us all pray that tsunami will not struck any nation. Let us pray for everyone's safety.

God bless us all.

Bridson's first try @ Tony Roma's - ATC

Spending Sundays at the Alabang Town Center has been our family's weekend bonding. We usually hang out there after lunch until past 8p.m.
A few weeks ago, Bridson has been eyeing one particular restaurant. He keeps on asking if I was able to try their food before and if it's good... I told him to better check it out for himself. ;) and voila! dinner is set at Tony Roma's!!! We got in there around 6:45 p.m., quite early dinner for us. My son bongbong was feeling at home inside the resto, he keeps on walking around and having fun with the restaurant attendants. hehe =)) One of the female attendant gave him a twisted balloon shaped into a snail, she also gave him crayons and paper while we were waiting for our food to be served. My husband ordered Cheese Burger - monterey jack cheese, medium rare, while I ordered Grilled Pork Chops with corn and rice. One person approached us while we were munchin on the free hot bread, he told us that unfortunately there's not much french fries-side dish left to serve, however they will still serve it together with a free baked potato. Then our food came, we were shocked by the amount of servings that they offer. Twas like an overload of fries plus a baked potato and coleslaw. And that's only for Bridson. My food was also terrific! I love the grilled pork chops plus the apple side dish. Everything was awesome. There's no room left for dessert. haha!

Before we finished our food, a lady attendant came to our table and offered me a discount card called "Friends of Tony Roma's" she said I can use it already after signing up. So there, I got a 10% disc. on top of our total bill. ;) Tony Roma's ATC is a superb resto!
